Aaron Ross Pixley, 42, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on January 19, 2023.
Aaron was born September 16th, 1980 in Mount Kisco, NY to John Pixley and Janice Adele Coburn Pixley.
Aaron spent his early childhood in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. When he was seven, the family moved to Reno, Nevada where he spent the rest of his adolescence. In 1999 Aaron graduated from Galena High School where he developed a keen interest in religious studies. This interest turned into a lifelong quest for knowledge in understanding Eastern Religion, Western Philosophy, and language. Aaron spoke several languages. He could read and write in German and French, spoke Thai, and studied Sanskrit. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master's Degree in Religious Studies from Rice University. His love for studying Philosophy culminated in several publications and the daily pursuit of philosophical understanding guided by great philosophers.
This passion motivated his journeys to Thailand where he practiced Buddhism and immersed himself in Thai culture. It was there that he fell in love with a Thai woman and eventually married her. While this did not work out, his love of Thai culture remained.
Aaron had an amazing sense of humor and would go out of his way to make people laugh. He had a deep appreciation for music and liked to share this love with his friends and family. Aaron would also go out of his way to help others. He taught English in Aranjuez, Spain. He was a gifted and patient teacher who could connect with anyone willing to learn.
Loved ones include father, John Pixley; mother, Janice Coburn-Pixley; brother, Jedediah Harris Pixley; sister-in-law, Sara Haber Pixley; niece, Josephine Adele Pixley; niece, Matilda Miles Pixley; aunt, Deborah Coburn Stern; cousins, Rebecca Hannah Stern and Joanna Carly Festa.
