Ada Ford Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heer Mortuaries & Crematory - Brush on Jun. 5, 2025.
Ada Joyce Ford, 86 of Brush, Colorado, passed away May 27, 2025, at Eben Ezer in Brush. She was born on November 11, 1933 to Vic and Arlene Edson and was welcomed by one older sister, Delaine. Through the years, Joyce took on the older sister's part and welcomed Vickie, Jackie, Rick, and Carla. Even though it was a large family, they practiced goodwill to all siblings and taught them the meaning of being a good person in the eyes of the Lord. Vic Edson was a local small business owner and was cherished throughout Brush as a man with a good heart. He passed his good heart to his children.
Joyce married Wayne Emerson Ford on March 28th, 1956, as the couple eloped to Raton, New Mexico. Later that year, they were blessed with the birth of their first child, Steven Clinton. It was not an easy birth, and Joyce was advised not to have additional children, but a daughter, Gailene, was born on November 20, 1962.
After Wayne's father passed, Joyce and Wayne built a loving home at 214 Turner Street in Brush, Colorado. During the early years, Joyce was a stay-at-home mom, taking care of the household and children. Joyce and Wayne enjoyed the camping lifestyle and joined a group of fellow campers, called the Trail Riders. There they found lifelong friendships with likewise interest couples. Every weekend during the summer months, Wayne and Joyce could be found camping. Their grandchildren were always happy guests on the outdoor adventures.
Joyce was a social butterfly. She loved her Bridge Group and would spend all day in preparation for her night of hosting. The house was spic and span, the snacks were prepared and ready for discernment, and the rest of the family was tucked away in the basement for the evening.,
After the children were old enough to be trusted alone, Joyce found herself helping the family income by working at Fortee Fashions. There, she was able to maintain that social platform by meeting, knowing, and helping every woman in the county.
Joyce believed in the word of our Lord. She practiced the Gospel through her daily life. She was kind and caring to all those around her. She attended multiple churches in the Brush area, with the Presbyterian Church congregation the group she called family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Vic and Arlene, one older sister, Delaine, her only brother, Rick, and recently her husband of 65 years, Wayne Emerson Ford.
Joyce is survived by her only son, Steven of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and one daughter, Gailene Dahlinger of Brush, Colorado. She had three grandchildren: Jason of Brush, Shane of Denver, and Stephani of Cheyenne, and several great-grandchildren called her Grandma.
A Memorial Service will be held for Joyce on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Heer Mortuary in Brush.
