Ada Joyce Martin

Ada Joyce Martin was born May 18, 1931 in Hartford, WI, daughter of Lovell and Ruth Martin. She grew up on dairy farm 9 miles west of Hartford. She attended Hartford High School, graduated in 1949, and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ada graduated in 1953 and taught second grade at a school in Racine, Wisconsin for one year and then for six years in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Ada left teaching and worked as a Social Worker for just over a year in Dodgeville and then for 29 years in Milwaukee and Milwaukee County.
Ada accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior in January, 1950. She was baptized at Faith Baptist Church, in Madison, Wisconsin. She became a member of Bethel Baptist Church upon moving to Milwaukee in 1961. She helped start a school in 1973 which became Heritage Christian School, Milwaukee WI in 1975. Ada served on the Board of Heritage Christian School until 2005.
In 1992, Ada became a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church where she was an active church member. She served in the AWANA program for 20 years. She taught a Women's Bible study for three years and served in Women's ministry as a substitute teacher. She also served as a substitute teacher for the Adult Sunday School class and was a choir member for many years.
In 2017, she became a member of North Avenue Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until her health prevented her. Ada was a faithful servant of Christ, serving and blessing others. She had a special love for missionaries and supported many. She blessed the lives of many people.
We rejoice that Ada is now home with the Lord and celebrating her reunion with family and friends.
Funeral Services for Ada will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at North Ave Baptist Church (15400 W North Ave, Brookfield, WI 53005).
