Buff Hernandez, 68 years of age and resident of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
He was born on March 18, 1957, in Laredo, Texas, to the late Isabel (nee Yruegas) and Jesus Hernandez.
An attentive and involved grandfather, Buff cherished attending their activities and games, forever cheering on his family. He was an incredible father and role model, with an enormous heart and a never-ending capacity for kindness. One of his most cherished past times was fishing with his son and grandchildren, exploring different local spots. When he wasn’t spending time with or working hard on behalf of his family, Buff was a Harley Davidson fanatic. He enjoyed everything from riding to building bikes and enjoyed any activity that allowed some hands-on tinkering. Buff was truly a teddy-bear at heart that will be missed and remembered by many.
Buff is survived by his son Brian (Felicia) Hernandez; grandchildren Destinee, Nolan, and Cora; significant other Esther; brothers Jesus (Gloria) and Santos (Lana) Hernandez; nieces and nephews Missy (Jacob) Howard, Mario Hernandez, Amber (Vince) Mangiaracina, Jason Robinson, Jeanette (John) Cappiello, and Michelle (Ron) Krier; as well as great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Isabel Hernandez; grandchildren Robert and Sean; and brother Sergio Hernandez.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 12 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. funeral service at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
