Adrian Bernard Hickson

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Adrian Bernard Hickson, age 54, of Florence, who peacefully transitioned on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Adrian "AD" Bernard Hickson was born on October 17, 1970, in Florence, South Carolina, to Willie Hickson, Sr. and Sandra Echols Hickson.
At the tender age of sixteen, Adrian was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He was airlifted to the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he underwent several years of cancer treatment. Adrian would often say, "I defied the odds," as many of his peers did not survive their battles with the disease.
Adrian received his formal education through the Florence District One School System and attended Wilson High School.
Affectionately known as "AD," he was well known and deeply loved by many. He enjoyed the simple things in life-fishing, taking peaceful walks in the park, watching his favorite television shows, and playing card games with friends. His kind spirit and easygoing nature will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Adrian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Olivia Downs Echols.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his father, Willie Hickson, Sr.; his mother, Sandra Echols Hickson; his grandmother, Cora Hickson of Newark, NJ; brothers, Willie Hickson, Jr., Christen Hickson, Lamond Timothy Hickson, and Marcus Singletary, all of Florence, SC; sisters, Cassandra Lachiel Hickson of Brooklyn, NY, Sherry Robinson of Austin, TX, and Shekinah Holmes of Okinawa, Japan; nieces, Tiffany Hickson, Victoria Hickson, and Brittany Hickson, all of Brooklyn, NY, and Jakayla Hickson of Memphis, TN; a devoted and special friend, Pamela Elaine Thompson; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
