Agatha Antione Cox, lovingly known as "Norge," passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 75.
Born on December 30, 1949, in St. John, Grenada, Norge lived a vibrant and generous life defined by love, resilience, and joy. She was educated at St. John Christian Secondary School formerly known as Shapers School in Grenada and later earned her GED in Fort Lauderdale. She first tried immigrating to the United States in the 1970s. Although she had to return to Grenada and she was determined to try again. She welcomed her only child, her daughter Glenda in 1975, and ultimately built a lifelong home in South Florida in 1983.
Norge began her career as a nanny and went on to serve as a dedicated house manager for over three decades with the Stiles family (who she loved dearly)-helping to raise Tresa, Carrie, and Kenny with the same devotion and care she brought to her own home. Her legacy of compassion lives on through generations of the Stiles family and countless others whose lives she touched.
Norge was a woman of deep faith and daily prayer. Her joy radiated most brightly during Grenada Carnival, the Christmas season, and whenever her home was filled with friends and family. She was a passionate gardener, a master of Caribbean cuisine, a die hard Heat's fan, and a fiercely stylish woman with a soft spot for Banana Republic, J. Crew, and Pier One treasures. If you visited her home, you were treated like royalty-but don't forget to save the water!
She is survived by her loving husband Anthony "Bunkanas" Cox; her devoted daughter Glenda N. Cox, whom she adored beyond measure; and her cherished granddaughter Maddyn Cox-Constant-her pride and absolute joy, soon to attend Hampton University. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Ellen Bishop Spellman, Ann Marie Mariecheau, Cleatus Charles, Grace Louison, Andrew Charles, Nathan Charles, Nathaniel "Nate" Charles, and Donald Charles. Bonus' son Glenn Cox and his children Kyera and Briana Cox, as well as Norge's extended siblings from her father's side, Courtney Mckie and Marcel Henry, also mourn her loss.
She is predeceased by her parents, Mura Charles and Houghton Anthony McKie, who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Norge's presence was magnetic-always loving, always loyal, and always ready with a warm plate and a warmer heart. She was a true friend, a trusted confidante, and a woman who made people feel seen, nourished, and at home. Her proudest accomplishments included buying her own home in Florida, putting her daughter through college, and building a retirement haven in her beloved Grenada.
She lived fully-whether hosting loved ones, dancing at Carnival, listening to old school Soca, ("Alexa play Sparrow") exploring the jungles of Costa Rica, or celebrating her 70th birthday her way (with a surprise party and her own) "She better not piss me off".
She will be deeply missed by her family, her wide circle of lifelong friends and all who were lucky enough to be in her orbit. Her memory will live on in every soca rhythm, every recipe passed down, and every laugh shared in her name.
A viewing and celebration of Norge's life will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 3750 North State Rd 7,
Lauderdale Lakes, FL 33319.
