Agnes (Reis) Fracassa, 98, of Johnston passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side at home, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She was the wife of the late Frank Fracassa and later spent 16 years with her succeeding life partner, Joseph Ricci.
Born July 28, 1926 in East Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim "Jack" and Mariana (Perry) Reis.
Agnes "Aggie" was loved and cherished for the decades spent of endless nurturing care and devotion to her entire family. She was a selfless, strong spirit with a compassionate soul and her family was always her top priority.
In her early career days, she owned and managed three beauty salons, followed by pursuing her love for seamstress work. She was extremely talented behind her sewing machine, and she eventually developed a small business where she created beautiful window treatments for countless family members, friends and customers. She took great pride in her work and was a true perfectionist in every way.
After retirement, she spent her days caring for her grandchildren, Ashley and Justin. She was such an integral part of their upbringing, and was warmly referred to as "Grandma Aggie" from many neighborhood children who loved her like family.
Aggie enjoyed cooking, and no one could leave her home without being forced to have something to eat. Her passion for baking was a treat for all. Family members looked forward to holidays and parties knowing that a delicious apple pie, carrot cake or banana split cake was sure to be served by her. It was impossible to ever leave her home without some type of a "to go" bag – which seemed to be a familiar trait of her sisters as well!
With great sadness, she leaves her son, John Reis; her grandchildren, Ashley (her "baby doll") and Justin Reis; her godson, Rodney "Mike" Reis, who she raised like a son, (Michelle) and daughter Taylor; her grandson Christopher (Cindy) Fracassa; her great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Fracassa; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa (Loffredo) Reis. She also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews, who she loved dearly.
She was the sister of the late Mary "Mae" Medeiros, Eva Ritter, Viola Candos, Eleanor Kurtz and John Reis, and the stepmother of the late Rodney Fracassa (Barbara).
Aggie's constant wish was to remain in her own home during the last phase of her life. Fulfilling this wish would not have been possible without the devoted daily care provided by her family–especially Ashley, Lisa and John- and nieces Lori, Tina, and Debbie, and made it a point every single day to say how grateful and appreciative she was for their care.
Her funeral will be held at 8:45 am Tuesday, Jan. 28, from the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 27, from 4pm until 7pm in the "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Flowers are welcomed.
