Schneider, Beverly Gorden, 77, died Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Alan Schneider. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Glassman) Gorden, she had lived in Narragansett for 8 years, previously living in Warwick.
After graduating from Pilgrim High School in Warwick, she went on to attend Johnson and Wales, and then moved to Washington, D.C. in the mid-1960s to work in the offices of Senator Claiborne Pell and Congressman Edward Beard, among several other lawmakers.
Her first marriage to Richard Moss ended in divorce.
After working on the Hill, Beverly worked for the Democratic National Committee and later for its chairman, Charles Manatt.
While in D.C., Beverly studied at the George Washington University. Beverly continued to work as a paralegal and in law offices.
In 2007, Beverly and Stephen moved from the D.C. area to Rhode Island to begin their retirement.
Devoted mother of Billy Moss and his partner, Cynthia, of Brooklyn, NY; Jeremy Schneider and his wife, Dana, of Frederick, MD; and Jenny Schneider and her partner, Matt, of Charlottesville, VA. Dear sister of Roberta Johnson of Warwick, RI and the late Norman Gorden. Loving grandmother of Sylvia.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. Shiva will be observed at The Chabad Chai Center of West Bay, 3871 Post Rd., Warwick on Friday 12:45 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 504 RXR Plaza, Uniondale, NY 11553.
