John Smallridge IV, 52, of Warwick, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born in Norwich, Connecticut, he is survived by his mother, Edna (Neel) Hartwell and her husband, Earl Hartwell; father, John Smallridge III; children, Jeffrey, Joshua, John, and Katelyn; sister, Sherri Smallridge; and aunt Colleen Landeche.

John was a longtime resident of Warwick, and a graduate of Pilgrim High School. From a young age, he displayed a remarkable work ethic-taking on odd jobs as early as 13 years old. He found his calling in carpentry, and built homes in Nantucket for many years. He later joined the Connecticut Carpenters Union. Eventually, he returned to Rhode Island where he continued his work as a sheet metal worker and blacksmith.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Visitation in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 10:30AM-12:00PM, followed by a Chapel Service at 12:00PM, in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick. Burial to follow will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. Donations in his honor may be made online to the Diabetes Foundation at: https://diabetesfoundationinc.org/get-involved/donate/
