Edward "Eddie" Shine, age 31, of Washington, DC, passed away unexpectedly on September 21st, 2025. He was born in 1994 to Karen and Edward Shine and grew up in Foxboro, MA, alongside his two sisters, Kelly and Kristen Shine.
Eddie attended Foxborough High School, where he served as class president of 2012. Eddie then attended American University where he joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science and French Language, graduating cum laude. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at George Washington University, where he was awarded a merit scholarship and named a Gary S. Tell ERISA Litigation Scholar.
Passionate about law and dedicated to the pursuit of human and civil rights, Eddie began his career as a litigation paralegal before becoming an associate. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a bright and driven individual with a deep love of music. At American University, he played in the Jazz Orchestra and created a senior capstone project titled "Jazz as a Political Voice", combining his passion for jazz with his studies in political science. Outside of academics and work, he also played trumpet, DJed, and was a devoted Boston sports fan, especially of the Celtics and Red Sox.
Eddie was the pillar of a strong community in Washington, DC, which he built on a shared love of arts, community, and learning. He had a close circle of friends there whom he loved deeply, and who loved him in return. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and generosity, exemplified by his passion for the people and causes he cared so deeply about.
Eddie was preceded in death by Edward and Catherine Shine of West Roxbury, MA, Warren and Mary McNabb of Roslindale, MA and Richard McNabb. He is survived by his parents, Edward and Karen Shine of Foxboro, MA, and his siblings, Kelly Shine and Joshua Gonsalves of Weymouth, MA, and Kristen Shine of Medford, MA.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, October 2 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street in Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough.
