Ajene Sufi (Anthony Davis) was born on November 29, 1945, to Joseph and Hilda Davis in Brooklyn, NY. He was the youngest of 11 children. Ajene peacefully departed from this world on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in his Rahway, NJ home, surrounded by his loving wife. Ajene is reunited with his parents, six brothers; Howard (Sonny), Leroy (DeeDee), Clarence (Buster), Stanton, (Teenie), Franklin (Frankie), and Richard; and one sister Rosetta (Mummie).
In 1966, Ajene answered the call to serve his country and was drafted into the Army, where he displayed incredible courage and was awarded both the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He retired from Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) after over 25 years of being a Road Car Inspector. Throughout his life, he exemplified strength, pride, and charisma, always speaking his mind and leaving an impression on those around him.
Ajene's love for his family was unwavering, he loved bonding and spending time with his family over card games. He enjoyed watching boxing, playing cards, and talking with his brothers.
Ajene is survived by his wife Silestine; his children Carolyn Fairley (Jerry), Christopher Davis (Deborah), Ijon Davis (Evelyn); and stepdaughter Kim Rein from his late wife Gwendolyn. His stepson Derrick Davis from his late second wife Margo, and his step daughters Deena Davenport, and Krystal Davenport from his current wife Silestine; his grandchildren Melissa, Armando, Lanae, Ivy, Alexis, Jasmine, Miykael, Dominique, Odasia, Elesiah, Brittany, Ashley, Ijon Jr.; step grandson Amir Whitaker; 12 great grandchildren; siblings Stanley, Allen, and Joseph; and a host of other relatives and close friends.
