Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Akhtar moved to the United States in 2005. He was an Electrical Engineer and a Member of First Presbyterian Church of Iselin. He enjoyed traveling, nature, reading, sports, music and good food.
Akhtar is predeceased by his son, Solomon Javed (2011); and his sisters, Parveen Akram and Nasreen Babar.
He is survived by his wife of 41.5 years Ruby (Saroea); his daughter, Sarah Malik and her husband Imran Malik of Woodbridge; his son, Sharoon Javed and his wife Zaib Sharoon of Iselin; 5 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Janiah, Sheryl, Ezekiel, and Hadriel; and his brother, Akhtar Pervaiz.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 9am to 10:45am at First Presbyterian Church of Iselin, 1295 Oak Tree Rd, Iselin, NJ 08830 followed by an 11am Funeral Service at the church. Interment will follow at Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
