Funeral services for Alan Keith Brown, 64, will be 2PM Friday, January 6, 2023, at North Monroe Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service at the church, with interment to follow in Crowville Masonic Cemetery, Crowville, LA all under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro, LA. Brown passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 28, 2022, at his home in Monroe, Louisiana.
He was born in Winnsboro, LA on September 27, 1958, Keith graduated from Ruston High School where he played basketball for legendary coach Leon Barmore. Upon graduating from high school, he attended and graduated from Belhaven University (formerly College) where he was the starting point guard for the men's basketball team (1978-1981); he was inducted into the Belhaven University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
He went on to coach and teach at Winnsboro High School (1982-1985), Epps High School (1990-1994), and Ouachita High School (1994-1998) before being hired on as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Louisiana Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University) from 1998-2002. Following his coaching career, his career continued at ULM, serving as Director of Governmental Relations (2002-2005) and Executive Director of Alumni and Community Relations (2005-2014).
Vehemently passionate for northeast Louisiana, Keith served as Director of District Outreach to former Congressman Dr. Ralph Abraham (R; LA-05) cultivating relationships with people from all over the district. A stranger to no one, Keith made long-lasting changes for the people of the region and beyond.
Keith was most known for being a loyal friend. He had a calm spirit that immediately made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room. He helped countless people never expecting anything in return-he truly possessed a servant's heart. Everyone who knew Keith has "a story" to tell about him and because he knew countless people, there are countless stories. He loved his family, sports, northeast Louisiana, good food, politics, and simply sharing a laugh with friends.
He developed a servant's heart by observing his parents at their family's business, Brown's Landing. Keith began cultivating relationships in his early years at the restaurant and continued to grow and maintain these relationships throughout his lifetime. It could be said that his time at Brown's Landing was where he developed a hunger for politics. Anyone involved in Louisiana Politics knew Keith Brown. He was the repository of political information, and he knew who to share it with and when to share it. Ultimately, he used all of the information for the advancement of Northeast Louisiana, a place he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Rosa Brown, and nephew Robert Cole Kirksey, and survived by his sister, Sonja Dollar, nephew Dr. Daniel Christopher Dollar, and great nephew Roland Cole Dollar, all of Winnsboro, as well as a host of friends, and former athletics that will forever remember "Coach KB." He is also survived by his long-time, special friends, Lisa Cox Reardon and her daughter, Anna Beth Reardon Spires, and Rick Sain. Jr.
Pallbearers will be William Daniel, Brandon Dean, Casey Jones, Larry Long, Curtis Sain, and Kevin Unter.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Camile Currier, Jim Deolle, Danny Ford, Randall Garvin, John Gill, Neil Riser, Rick Sain, Jr. and Ronnie Shelby

My heart is hurting what a good man. Keith always made you feel like you were his best friend. Always made time to talk and that smile made you feel important. He will be missed. I enjoyed working with him at ULM and just calling him a friend. Rest Easy Keith. Job well done

Keith was my neighbor for more than a decade. We worked together for the homeowners association, he as president and I as treasurer. He was always nice and willing to do what it took for the HOA and our neighbors

I am so sorry to learn of Keith´s untimely death. He was a friend that always had a smile and a kind word to say. He will truly be missed in Northeast Louisiana. My prayers are with his family as we mourn his passing.

Keith was a true friend who gave back more than he took out and always thought about others and his community. He loved his family and we know the Lord will give Sonja and the entire family the strength to move forward and yes, he was a Moma´s boy all the way to the end! We will miss you my friend.....with love and sympathy.......drew and joe farr
