In Loving Memory of Alan Dale "Buddy" Collier
1959 - 2024
Alan Dale Collier, affectionately known as Buddy, was born on May 9, 1959, in Camden, Arkansas, to Bruce Henry Collier Sr. and Sarah Ella Miller-Collier. He passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, in Weatherford, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and unwavering faith.
Buddy was a devoted father, grandfather, and husband, whose gentle spirit and strong work ethic touched the lives of everyone around him. Raised in Mansfield, Louisiana, Buddy's roots were deeply intertwined with the rich fabric of Southern life. From a young age, he found solace in nature and a deep appreciation for the Ozarks, a place that held his heart. He cherished the moments spent in the serene landscapes of Jasper, Arkansas, often returning to reminisce and reconnect with the beauty that inspired him.
In his professional life, Buddy dedicated over 40 years to the art of painting with J and V Painting. His craftsmanship was not merely a job; it was an expression of his character and passion. He became a beloved member of the Nappier family, who embraced him as their own, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.
Buddy's love for wildlife was evident in his daily routines. He found immense joy sitting on his deck, quietly observing the deer and other creatures that graced his backyard. Those moments of tranquility were a reflection of his deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
A man of faith, Buddy was saved by his Lord and Savior as a child. Throughout his life, he maintained a personal relationship with God, which served as his guiding light. This faith was evident in his interactions with others, always extending kindness and understanding to those in need.
Buddy's love story with Sherry began as a sweet neighborhood friendship that blossomed into a beautiful romance. After two months of neighborly friendship they began dating, they were together ten years before they sealed their bond with marriage on September 30, 1998, in Jasper, Arkansas. Their partnership was a testament to love's enduring power, and together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories and had a total of 36 wonderful years by each other's side.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Collier and Sarah Black. Buddy leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Sherry; his sons, Cole Collier and his wife Jenifer, and Micah Collier; his brother Bruce Collier and his wife Debbie; his stepbrother Greg Black; and his beloved grandchildren, Rylan, Azlyn, Gage, and Gunnar Collier. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and an extended family of friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Buddy's legacy is one of unwavering love, faith, and a passion for life that inspired all who knew him. His gentle nature, strong convictions, and dedication to family will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched.
