Alan Franks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home North Riverside Chapel on Dec. 11, 2025.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Anthony Franks, 69, of Gainesville, Georgia, on December 7, 2025, from a heart attack.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Franks of Ringgold, GA; his mother, Melba Phillips of Blairsville, GA; and his beloved wife, Jane Butt Franks of Blairsville.

He is survived by his daughters, Seantee' Franks McCurdy (Ringgold, GA) and her children Jada Wilson and Devin Wilson, and great-grandchildren Stella Long and Barrett Wilson; and Tessy Franks (Chatsworth, GA) and her children Damon Winkler and Kella King. Also surviving are brothers Randall Franks (Tunnel Hill, GA), Ivan Phillips and wife Leah (Cartersville, GA), and Donny Phillips and wife Sandra (Suwanee, GA).

Family was Alan's first love. He cherished time spent together, especially sharing meals and taking his grandchildren fishing. A passionate angler, Alan was a longtime member of the BASS Masters club in Gainesville, where he enjoyed the competition, traveling to new fishing spots, and-most of all-the fellowship with his club friends.

For 39 years, Alan excelled in flooring sales, helping build and grow AFDC (Atlanta Flooring Design Centers) into a respected company. Known as one of the top salespeople in the Southeast, he earned numerous sales honors and mentored countless colleagues. Whether working with coworkers, subcontractors, or vendors, Alan was immensely respected and will be deeply missed.

Alan never lost his love for rock and roll from his Union County High School days, with Lynyrd Skynyrd remaining his all-time favorite.

Per Alan's wishes, no formal service will be held. He will be laid to rest at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery beside his wife Jane, and his mother Melba.

Alan was a faithful supporter of his brother, Randall Franks, a multiple music halls of fame entertainer, and his Appalachian music scholarship charity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to those efforts: Share America Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 42, Tunnel Hill, GA 30755 or online at http://ShareAmericaFoundation.org .
