Alan Ottens,
78, formerly of Pepperell, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the Blaire House of Worcester.
Born May 2, 1946, in Waltham, MA, son of the late Otto Ottens and Ruth (Thomas) Ottens, Alan attended schools in Waltham and Gloucester before proudly starting his own commercial construction company, of which he ran for over 50 years. Alan worked tirelessly 6 days a week developing properties across New England, including the Lechmere Mall in Framingham, MA, a Duplex Development in Derry, NH, as well as numerous commercial demolition and site work projects including the Howard Johnson Hotel/Barnes & Nobles in Burlington, MA and the Olive Garden in Tyngsboro, MA (to name a few).
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Ferrante; his daughters Christine Ottens and June Dowdy of Oklahoma, Melissa Sawyer of New Hampshire and Ashley Dijak and her husband Christopher of New Hampshire; his grandchildren James, Justin, Nathan, Justin, Matthew, Alexa, Kaley, Connor and Amelia as well as his brother Ronald Ottens of Nova Scotia, Canada and many other extended family members. In addition to his parents, Alan was predeceased by his brother Paul Ottens.
A wake will be held for family and friends Monday, August 5th from 4pm-8pm at Brasco Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA. For those who wish to pay their final respects but are unable to attend in person, a guestbook will be available online at www.BrascoFuneralhome.com.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham on Tuesday, August 6th at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Alan's honor to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
