Albert G. Amodeo, "Al", age 67, of Wilmington, passed away following a brief illness on January 6, 2025.
Al was born on August 26, 1957, in Medford, MA; he was the son of the late Generoso A. and Ines M. (Fiato) Amodeo. Al was raised in Somerville and Medford along with his five sisters and graduated from Medford High School.
Following high school, Al attended Boston State College where he earned his bachelor's degree in education. He started his 30-year career as a World Language Teacher in Brockton and later in the Wakefield School District. Al was a very talented teacher and could speak three languages fluently. He enjoyed teaching his students about languages and customs of other countries including Spain, France, and Italy.
Al married Mark E. Sullivan in June of 2004; they moved to Wilmington over twenty years ago. Al and Mark became involved in St. Thomas Church; Al served as a lector and a eucharistic minister. He volunteered at the Christmas Bizarre and often donated his time at the church functions. Al was a devout Catholic and attended Mass regularly. Al and Mark made many friends at the church and enjoyed socializing. In his younger years, Al was a parishioner at St. Raphael's Church in Medford, where he volunteered his time as well.
Family was most important to Al; he was the Patriarch of the Amodeo family. Al was very special to all his nieces and nephews; as young children, he taught them how to play games and sing songs. Al never forgot a birthday and made a special effort to send a card for each family member.
Al will be remembered as a genuinely "nice guy." He had a huge heart and was very generous with his "time, treasure and talents." He was very supportive of his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Al was the beloved husband of Mark E. Sullivan, dear brother of Silene Tsiros & her husband Arthur of Wakefield, Geraldine Krell & her late husband Roger of Allen, TX, Ines Campana & her husband Jack of Del Mar, CA, and the late Esther Hinsman and Mary Ann Murphy. Al was the brother-in-law of Ann Eastman & her late husband Gary of Stoneham, the late Gertrude Brady, Clifford Sullivan, Jr., and Eileen Horgan. He is survived by his dear cousin Joseph Ferioli, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday, January 13th at 10:00 a.m. immediately followed a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, January 12th from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Memorial donations in Al's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I first met Albert about 30 years ago because he had befriended a mutual friend. He seemed quite a sweet and special person. Though we were not very close, I appreciated the time he spent with my mother and her friends. I also remembered him and Mark joining me in surprising my mother on her 70th birthday. Later on we would see ourselves at Monday night at The Blues in Melrose.

Mark, my deepest condolences to you and yours. I hope that all those wonderful years, memories and love help comfort you in these moments of pain and loss. Big hugs to you! Luis Franco

Mark and family,
I have known Al since he was a small child (8 or 9 years old). What a kind and loving soul he was. Always ready to help.

Our deepest condolences to you and the Amodeo family on your loss.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of this wonderful man. Al had such a beautiful voice and used it to praise God, always in the first row.
I will treasure my memories of him at church always. Mark, my love and prayers are going out to you and your family. Blessings, Lora
