Albert Vincent Brumitt, age 70, of Edwardsville, died Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born January 4, 1954 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of the late Earl and Rose (Murphy) Brumitt. He married Kathryn "Kay" Hogue June 27, 2000. She survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Jonathan E. Brumitt of Edwardsville; stepsons: Christopher D. Blair (Cherie) of Granite City and Chad M. Bosomworth of Alton; one step-daughter, Cassie M. Bosomworth of Troy, IL; five grandchildren: Dylan M. Springs, Hannah M. Springs, Caleb J. Blair, Courtney N. Blair and Haileigh M. Doty; two siblings: Thomas Brumitt (Linda), of Palm Coast, FL and Linda Wolf (David) of Edwardsville; a brother-in-law, Charles W. Hogue, Jr. (Sarah) of Chicago; and three sisters-in-law: Diane M. Jacober, Carol H. Hogue and Tamara B. Hogue, all of Edwardsville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dian Brumitt; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Maxine (Koch) Hogue; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Jacober.
Albert served his country in the US Navy from 1974-1979. He was a commercial roofer for thirty years and was a member of Roofer's Local Union #2 in St. Louis. He served as treasurer of the Union Hall for ten years and taught roofing class at the Union Hall. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville with the Very Reverend Jeffrey Goeckner officiating. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., followed by interment at St. Boniface Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church, masses or to Hope Animal Rescues in Godfrey.
