Albert J. Briggs, Sr., 88, of Lake Park, passed away peacefully at his home on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on May 14, 1937, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Albert was the son of the late Albert Whorlan Briggs and Helen Mae Law Briggs.

Growing up in New Castle, Albert developed a strong work ethic early in life, beginning his career as an auto mechanic. He dedicated many years working at various wrecking yards in his hometown before relocating to Valdosta 45 years ago, where he continued to embrace his passion for hard work. Albert was a man who deeply valued family and friendship, always making time to be with those he loved.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Carolyn Briggs of Valdosta; his sons and their spouses, John and Heather Briggs of Lake Park, Clint and Diana Briggs of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Johnny Briggs of Texas, and Jimmy Briggs of New Castle, Pennsylvania. Albert’s legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Brianna (and Ryan) Fielder of Dothan, Alabama; Kayleigh Briggs, Kyleigh Briggs, Kaydon Briggs, Abby Biggs, and Grayson Briggs, all of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind his brother Bill Briggs of New Castle, Pennsylvania, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dori Briggs.

The family will hold a visitation to honor Albert’s life at 10am on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
