Albert W. “Big Al” Linden entered eternal rest on Friday, June 27th, 2025 at 89 years of age. Beloved husband of Iris Lotz Linden for the past 66 years. Born in New Orleans on September 29, 1935 to the late Albert W. and Dorothy Gasper Linden. He was the Father of Albert Anthony (Donna), William Patrick (Stacy) and James Joseph (Dawn). He was the oldest of five children, brother of the late Errol (Myrna), the late John (Erna), the late Eric Linden and the late Hazel Linden Schmitt (Joseph). He was the Grandfather of Haley-Lynn (Theodore), Adam and Garrett Linden; Jacob Cheramie (Bianca) and Emily Danos. He was the Great Grandfather of Tatum Joseph Macke. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He received his G.E.D. from McDonough 35. He was a member of the National Guard for three years and was honorably discharged in March 1953. For over Fifty years he lived in Gretna, LA where he joined the Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department. At the young age of 10, he performed on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour where he played the spoons. Then at 13, he fell in love with performing and became a drummer sitting in with numerous bands all over the Westbank and New Orleans, leading him to be inducted in the Westbank Musicians Hall of Fame in 2013. A quote from his interview with them states “Al has been playing music for over 57 years and says if he had the chance to do it all again, he wouldn’t change a thing.” With the love of sports, he played and coached at Oakdale Playground for over thirty years. He was employed with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans for over thirty years and retired in 1995. The family is very grateful for the entire staff of the Living in Love assisted living center in Algiers, LA and the medical staff with Hospice Compassus for the professionalism and compassion shown towards his end of life care. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Relatives, family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Wesbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Thursday, July 3rd at 9:00AM with the funeral mass in the Chapel, at Mothe, at 1:30PM.
