Macomb - Albert C. ("Bud") Lucas, 92, of
Osage Beach, Missouri and
Macomb, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at his home in
Osage Beach, Missouri.
He was born October 4, 1931 in New Jersey. He was raised in Blandinsville, Illinois by his parents, Orville and Nina Daugherty. Bud married Shirley L. (Pittenger) Lucas on June 6, 1954. Shirley passed away on February 4, 2016.
Bud is survived by his three sons, Mike (Dana) Lucas of
Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Curt (Laura) Lucas, of
Naperville, Illinois, Marty Lucas of
Orland Park, Illinois; four grandchildren, Bradley (Brianna), Christopher (Cassie), Benjamin (Emily), Jeffrey Lucas; two great grandchildren, Dominic, and Viviana.
Bud was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Lucas, his brother, Lowell (Lois) Daugherty, and his parents.
Bud graduated from Blandinsville High School in 1949, where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and fought in the Korean War on a Naval Destroyer as a Petty Officer. Upon returning to Macomb, Bud attended Western Illinois University and studied Business.
Bud began his career with Citizens National Bank in Macomb and soon after, joined Macomb Savings and Loan (Midwestern Savings Association) where he spent 31 years, the last eleven years as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. Bud was the co-founder and co-chairman of Online Financial Corporation in
Oak Brook, Illinois, a tri-state consortium of small to midsize savings and loans in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
Following his financial management career, Bud became Property Manager for Indian Pointe Condominium Owners Association in the Lake of the Ozarks, MO, where he and Shirley resided for more than 20 years.
Bud was a lifetime member of the Macomb Elks Club and the Macomb American Legion. He served as Alderman for the Macomb City Council and was past President of the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce. As well, Bud was a member of the McDonough County Board and later served as Chairman of the Board. He was a founding member of the Macomb Area Industrial Development Corporation (MAIDCO) Board of Directors and served as a Board Member for the Macomb Downtown Development Corporation.
Bud was an avid sports fan; he loved the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, University of Illinois Fighting Illini, Western Illinois University Leathernecks, and had adopted the Kansas City Chiefs since moving to Missouri.
Bud put family, friends, pets, work, and community all before himself. He loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and was an incredibly devoted husband to his wife, Shirley, for over 61 years. Today Bud and Shirley are rejoined for all of eternity.
