Albert H. (Bud) McCaffrey, Jr., 88, of New Hartford passed away at home May 10, 2012_with his family at his side. He was born August 23, 1923 in Albany, NY son of the late Albert H. and Edna Maneth McCaffrey Sr. He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. He later graduated from Syracuse University. Bud married Rosemary Lynch in 1948 in Utica, with whom he had three daughters. She passed away in 1974. He later married Gwen McHarg, who died in 1992. He was employed with West End Brewing Co. for 35 years retiring in 1986 as Secretary-Treasurer.He loved golf and in retirement, moved to Carolina Shores, NC, where he lived on the 18th tee. For many years, he worked as a starter and ranger on several area courses. He also enjoyed Bridge. Bud was a former member of the Skenandoa Golf Club, the Utica Curling Club, the Utica Chamber of Commerce and the Debonairs. He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Scott Page of Providence Forge, VA, Patricia and James Mitro of New Hartford, Susan and S.J. Capecelatro of Utica; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his beloved friend of many years Elaine Cowart; three step-children and three step-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his sister, Regina Decker. The family wishes to thank all of the friends and neighbors who have been so supportive and caring throughout Bud's illness. Special thanks to Frank Tizzano and Hospice for all their help and kindness. A Memorial Mass will be held will Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Newman Center of Utica College with the Rev. Paul J. Drobin. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Foundation or Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
