Mr. Albert William Powell, Jr., U.S Army (retired), age 98, of Canton, GA passed away Thursday morning, June 26, 2025. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army from August 1945 until October 1965. He was born May 8, 1927, in Reading, Massachusetts, son of the late Albert W. Powell, Sr. and Dorothy Powell. Albert (known to his friends and family as Al) was preceded in death by three wives, Marta, Renata and Gayle, and five younger brothers, John, Ralph, Robert, Edward and Richard.
Al is survived by three sons, Bill (Marilyn), Mike (Kay) and Ed (Angela), two daughters, Nancy Underwood (Jerry) and Michelle McElwaney (Mike), two step-sons Scott Sollenberger (Melissa) and Joe Sollenberger (Donna), eleven grandchildren and several great and great, great grandchildren. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral service will be held at a future date at the Georgia National Cemetery, located on GA Hwy. 20 in Canton, Georgia
