A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Richard served his country with honor. Richard enjoyed baseball and football, and he cherished the moments spent cheering from the stands at his grandchildren's sporting events.
He was a talented guitarist and song writer. Woodworking was yet another of his talents. To meet Richard was to make a friend. He was a man of simple pleasures, a kind soul who found joy in the everyday.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Walter Samuel Davidson; mother and stepfather, Annie Louise and J.B. Swancey; son, Joseph "Bud" Davidson; and his K-9 companion, Pee Wee.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon Davidson; children, Travis Davidson (Kayce), Amanda Davidson, Kimberly Davidson, and Christy Lynn Parks; grandchildren, Rylie Davidson, Preslie Davidson, Brecken Davidson, Emaleigh Henderson, Billeigh Davidson, Destyni Gibson, J.B. Davidson, Anslee Massey, Taylor Massey and Linux Smith; aunt, Glenda Burden; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Blanton and Rev. Paul Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery with honors provided by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 19th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ashley Henderson, Travis Davidson, John Hatcher, Richard Raysick, Wesley Shook and Terry Barnhill. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Davidson and Brecken Davidson.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
