Alberta Helena Jacobs Harris passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday June 27th, 2023 at Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph MO.
Alberta was born on August 2nd, 1936 to Charles and Rosa (Bolten) Jacobs in Lohman MO.
She was united in marriage to John Glenn Johnson. They lived in Germany for a short time while he was in the military. They then made their home in Missouri where they became parents of their two sons Curtis and Rick Johnson. Then in 1999 she was united in marriage to Leland Harris who preceded her in death in 2011.
She is survived by her sons Curtis Johnson of Texas and Rick (Annie) Johnson of St. Joseph MO. One sister Mary Agnes Walton of Arkansas. Four grandsons Rick (Amy) Johnson & Eric Adkins of St. Joseph MO. Peyton Johnson and Trent Johnson of the state of Texas. Several step children, step grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
After graduating high school, Alberta went to business college and then did office work for John's Phillips 66 for a number of years. After moving to St. Joseph, Alberta was employed by the City of St. Joseph MO for many years until her retirement in 1998. She and her husband then moved to Bevier MO in 2000. She loved her garden, trees, cooking delicious meals including her fried chicken which everyone loved. She also liked collecting ceramic dolls and bells. She loved her schnauzer dogs, raising chickens and just being outdoors in general. Most of all she loved spending quality time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Burial will be in New Addition Oakwood Cemetery in Bevier, MO. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00 am, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alberta Harris Memorial Fund. May leave or mail to Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home, 301 N. Rubey, Macon, MO 63552.
