Alberta Louise (Ucci) Neal, 85, of Burrillville, RI, passed away peacefully on August 28th, 2025 at Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Providence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Providence, Alberta was the cherished daughter of the late Umberto Ucci and Blanche (DeNoncour) Turcotte. She was preceded in death by her brother John Ucci.
Alberta was a woman of steadfast faith and was a longtime member of Glad Tidings Church. She was instrumental in the creation of Glad Tidings, which was the first gospel church in Glocester, RI in more than 150 years. She led souls to the Lord not only through her words but through the shining example of her prayers, her kindness and her life itself-a light that touched lives and rippled through generations.
Alberta worked at the White Tower early in her life, later attending URI, earning her Certified Medication Technician license. Her heart for children was boundless and she was honored as Foster Mother of the Year by the State of Rhode Island in 2004-a reflection of the many children she nurtured and loved as her own. Even as they grew, she remained a steady presence in their lives.
She loved to sing gospel hymns and delighted in cooking for her family, spoiling them with meals made with love, namely her famous chicken soup. A longtime resident of Stillwater Heights in Harrisville, Alberta was affectionately called "the sunshine lady." She never let a birthday or special occasion pass without a card. Her warmth made neighbors feel like family.
Alberta was the proud and loving mother of seven children: Pamela Benoit (Richard Proulx) of Smithfield, David (Barbara) Neal of Canterbury, CT, Sheila Feroce of Killingly, CT, and Paula Zienowicz, Patricia Potter, Roberta Lacey (Carol Murphy) and Linda Neal, all of Burrillville. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and her brothers: Ronald (Wendy) Turcotte of Tiverton and Wilfred Turcotte of Providence and countless extended family and friends who knew her simply and lovingly as "Mem."
Alberta's legacy is one of faith, family, and love. She leaves behind a trail of laughter, tenderness and beauty that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, reunited with loved ones gone before her and that the melody of her song and the strength of her love will never fade.
Calling hours will be held for Alberta on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM at the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave, Pascoag. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM at Glad Tidings Community Church, 111 Victory Hwy., Chepachet. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 100 Borden St., Providence, RI 02903.
