PERRY –
Alene Kirkland Ursrey, 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved family. Rev. Tommy Perkins will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Perry United Methodist Church, 2002 Carroll Street, Perry, GA 31069.
Alene was born in Denton, Georgia, on June 30, 1925, the youngest of ten children to the late Dan and Lovie Kirkland. She was a graduate of South Georgia Business School. When she moved to Perry in 1949, Alene became a legal secretary for the Superior Court Judge of Houston County, where she worked for many years. A long-time member of Perry United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the Joy Choir, the Howell Cobb Sunday School Class, and the United Methodist Women. Alene was also a member of the Sorelle Club, a local service organization in Perry.
Mrs. Ursrey was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore "Theo" F. Ursrey; and her sons, Ashley Ursrey and Terry Ursrey.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Ursrey are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her special friends, Eva Cogar and Jack Shanahan.
