Alexander "Alex" Hamilton Sr., age 69, of Clearfield, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the UK St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born on March 3, 1956, in Waukegan, Illinois, Alex was the beloved son of the late Elwood Hamilton Sr. and Rosemary Holesinger Hamilton. He was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Leann and Sandra Dee Hamilton, and a cherished daughter-in-law, Kathy Renee Stanley Hamilton.
A devoted Christian, Alex was an active member of the Church of God, where he found strength and community. Known affectionately by many nicknames, including "Bobo," "Soapy," and "Eckybo," he had a warm and engaging spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.
Alex was a talented mechanic, dedicating his skills to various local businesses, including Gene Brown, Jerry Flannery, and Sander's Station. His passion for fixing things was matched only by his love for the great outdoors. He found joy in fishing, rabbit hunting, and caring for his beloved beagles, often sharing these moments with family and friends.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Bonnie Dean Basford Hamilton, who was his steadfast partner in life. Alex is also survived by five sons: Alexander Hamilton Jr., Samuel Hamilton, Justin Hamilton, all of Morehead, Jonathan (Heather) Hamilton of Garrison, and Larry Hamilton of Morehead; three daughters: Tracey Hamilton of Clearfield, Jennifer (Tommy) Stanley, and Carrie (Jordan) Fritts, both of Prestonsburg; and five grandchildren: Joshua Hamilton, Sarah Renee Fritts, Courtney Heaberlin, Amanda (Cody) Williams, and Chris (Jessika) Stanley; and two great-grandchildren, Auri Stanley and Evie Stanley.
Alex is also survived by three sisters: Kay Anthony of Illinois, Conie Perry of Greenup, and Bonnie Lou Hamilton-Skruggs of Morehead; three brothers: Jay (Betty) Hamilton of Paris, Robert Hamilton, and Elwood (Kim) Hamilton Jr., both of Morehead; a special friend, Jerry Muse of Clearfield; and a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss his presence.
In accordance with Alex's wishes, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. The family invites those who wish to express their condolences to visit www.malonefuneralhome.com.
