Alexander Whritenour Jr., beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 93.

He was born on July 4, 1932, in Norwalk, Connecticut, to Alexander Whritenour and Florence Derouin, and grew up in New Canaan, CT. In his early years, he spent time helping at the family nursery, developing a lifelong love of the outdoors.

A natural athlete in his school years, Alex went on to serve proudly in the United States Army before earning his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Bryant College. He later enjoyed a long career with Slade Gorton in Boston.

A long-time resident of Sharon, Massachusetts, he married Patricia on August 8, 1958, the love of his life. Together they shared 67 years of marriage, raising six children and building many cherished memories.

He had a zest for life and a playful spirit. He loved fishing, golfing, basketball, chess, horseshoes, and cheering on the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Red Sox. He could always be counted on to have a roll of duct tape nearby for whatever needed fixing. He will be remembered for his steady presence, warm smile, and the countless moments of joy he brought to those around him.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; and his six children: David and his wife Lorraine Whritenour of Connecticut; Denise and her husband Steve McCooey of Rhode Island; Alex III and his wife Judi Whritenour of Massachusetts; Patty Ann and her husband Steve Glassman of Florida; Lori Songin of Massachusetts; PJ and his wife Danielle Whritenour of Florida He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with one on the way, He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander Whritenour and Florence Deroin, and his siblings, Robert and Mary Lou.

He leaves a legacy of love, humor, and generosity, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Alex won at the game of life.
