Alfonso Lira Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on May 6, 1939, Alfonso lived a full life marked by love, dedication, and a commitment to family that served as a guiding example for all who knew him.
Alfonso was the beloved husband of Nelda P. Lira, and together they shared a bond that weathered the trials of life and celebrated its joys. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Maggie Fisher, Olga Vasquez, Candice Villanueva (Jose), and Zoey Lira. His sons, Ralph Moreno (Terry), Mark Lira (Veronica), Roy Lira, and John Lira (Celina), carried forward his legacy of strength and kindness.
He was also a proud brother, mourning the loss of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lira, as well as his sons, Robert Palacios and Alfonso Lira III, and son-in-law, Andre Fisher. Alfonso is survived by his sisters, Gracie Carrion (Rene), Delia Lopez, and Irma Villarreal (Ted); his brothers, Jacinto Lira, Raymond Lira (Cookie), Robert Martinez, and Abel Contreras (Mary); daughters, Maria Chriselda Lira and Valerie Lauren Portal (Michael); and daughters-in-law, Melissa Lira and Yolanda Soto.
Alfonso found joy in his extensive family which included numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many nephews and nieces, who will forever remember his warm smile and unwavering support.
The legacy left by Alfonso Lira Jr. will continue to thrive in his family who carry with them the lessons he imparted through his words and actions. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will always remain in the hearts of those he loved. Rest in peace Alfonso, your life was a gift to many, and you will forever be remembered with affection and respect.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St @ Port Ave; with a Prayer Service to be held at 6:00 PM. Services will conclude that evening.
