Alfred J Axtell Jr, (Al) 84 passed away peacefully in his home in Crownsville, to natural causes, on August 2, 2025. Born on April 25, 1941 to Alfred J Axtell Sr (deceased) and Alma (Hofer) Axtell (deceased) in Menominee, Michigan.

Al graduated from Menominee High School in Michigan and was very well known for his sport skills especially basketball. He also served in the Military (Army). He worked several jobs while volunteering at the Herald Harbor Volunteer Fire Department for many years as acting chief. He also worked for Baltimore County Fire Department for 29 years, where he finally retired. Al was known for serving the communities in Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County.

He had a passion for go kart racing with his kids and grand children. He followed multiple sports with his grand children. He loved his kids, grand children, and great grand children very much. His face just lit up when they would come around. He was also known for working on small engines, lawn mowers, weed eaters, generators, and snow blowers. He could fix anything. He was always out in the garage working on something or cutting grass.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anita Axtell (Dawson), his 3 children, Alfred J Axtell III (Aj), Patricia(wife) Steven Axtell Jr, Dawn (wife), Laura Washington (Axtell) Leon (fiance) 5 Siblings that called him Chum, Pheobe Paulsen (Ron deceased) Mike Axtell, Floyd Axtell, Marcia (wife) David Axtell, Marty (wife) Dennis Axtell, Kathy (wife deceased)

Grand children Philip Axtell (Jess), Melissa Lawrence (Josh) Steven, Anthony.

Great grand children Eleanor, Christopher, Emma, Sean, Grayson, Kylie, Allison, Emery, and Ellianna and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
