BEVERLY – Mr. Alfred R. Fraser, 82 of Beverly, formerly of Salem and the loving husband of the late Pauline V. (Gaspa) Fraser, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 in the comfort of his son's home in Athens, Alabama.

Born in Salem, Al, lovingly known as "Butch" to family and friends was the son of the late Wilfred and Margaret (Laverty) Fraser. He was raised and educated in Salem, graduating from Salem High School, class of 1959.

When he was introduced to Pauline Gaspa by a family friend in 1955, he knew he had met the person with whom he would build a family. They married in August of 1960, and maintained a loving and supportive marriage a few days shy of 65 years until Pauline's Passing.

As a young man he loved to dig worms, clams for "Cappy's Bait Shop" and trap Lobsters or dive off the Salem/Beverly Bridge. In 1966, he joined Laborer International Union, over the next 50 years he helped or directed the paving over 10,000 or more miles of Massachusetts, New Hampshire Highways, as well as Logan airport. During the winter he warmed the house of thousands of Boston residents delivering heat fuel, there was no storm too big, road too snowy or icy or snowbank too high that he couldn't deliver to his customers.

He was a lifetime member if the Crow II Club, as a member he enjoyed going dropline fishing for Flounder, clambakes, American Chop Suey with Sunny Side Up eggs for breakfast and visiting with the Bridge Street Brotherhood. He loved "Snow-birding" in Naples for the winter, playing cards, polish picnics, going to Suffolk downs and enjoyed going to Wonderland Dog track for dinner and a night out with his wife Pauline. He loved the ocean, building puzzles, doing find a word to keep his mind sharp, he was a big fan of all Boston sports teams which he watched faithfully and a fan of his favorite Wheel of Fortune. He was a generous, proud, hardworking man who taught us about providing for our families and sacrificing for others. He loved watching all his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. His grandchild and great grandchildren will always remember him as the greatest Storyteller, they learned so much about the neighborhoods/history of Boston, Revere, Salem and some of Boston's most notorious.

Al is survived by his children, Alfred R. Fraser Jr., Michael F. Fraser & his wife Susan, Jeanne M. Fuller and Thomas M. Fraser & his wife Lisa; and his grandchildren; Brian Fraser, Patrick Fraser, Stephanie Lorrey & her husband Micheal, Samantha Fraser, Alfred Fraser III & his wife Corey, Skyler Long & his wife Crimson, Nicole Ippolito & her husband Patrick, Michael Fraser & his fiancé Huyen Huynh, Ashley Spencer & her husband Bryan, Richard Fuller, Crystal Deavilla & her husband Jason, Thomas Fraser & his wife Laura Jacob Nunes & his wife Lexi. Al is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. Al was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Margie Carr, Dolores Coleman and Jeannette Ryan, daughter-in-law, Victoria Fraser and his son-in-law, Duane Fuller.
