Alfred was married to Ellen Reid Large for 57 years until her passing in 2014. It was a marriage built on faith, hope, and devotion, and it showed throughout their time together. They have four children: sons Ted (Sue), Keith (Kelly), and Kevin, and daughter Annette Flechtner (Jim); as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Their lives will forever be enriched by having Alfred as the family's patriarch. Alfred worked with his father-in-law's plumbing business for 13 years until taking over in 1972; the company has since been passed down to his eldest son and grandson and is still in operation today. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Alfred's life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 21 at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating in Alfred's honor to Habitat for Humanity or the charity of your choice.
