Alfred Stewart, Sr. was born on March 13, 1933, in Porter, TX, to Mack and Samantha Stewart. He was the 6th child out of 13 siblings. Alfred attended New Caney High School, where he excelled as a standout baseball and basketball player. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and bravely served in the Korean War. After his military service, Alfred married Ms. Emma Louise Crews in 1968, and together they raised 8 children.
Alfred embarked on a successful career as a Supervisor at JL Nievel and Waste Management, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement in 1988. In 1987, Alfred found solace in his faith and devoted his life to Christ. As the oldest deacon at the Luke under the leadership of Pastor Sloan, Alfred's unwavering love for the Lord and his fearless proclamation of faith inspired many.
Known for his wisdom, kindness, and direct approach, Alfred was a man of few words but profound impact. His passion for sports, especially his beloved Houston Astros and the Pittsburgh Steelers, resonated throughout his family. Alfred cherished moments watching sports and meticulously maintaining his cherished Mercedes Benz. Affectionately known as Mr. Stewart in the community of Bordersville and at the Luke, and as "Fat" to his family and friends, Alfred was a loving husband, devoted father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His presence and love enriched the lives of those around him.
Alfred Stewart, Sr.'s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and community.
Alfred Stewart, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Samantha; his wife Louise; and siblings Arnett, Jesse, Oscar, Mack Jr, Freddie, Joe, John, Harvey, Lillian, Verdia Mae, and Anne Mae (Tweet); children Alfred Jr, Allen, Marvin, Lonnie, and Vera. Alfred leaves behind a
legacy cherished by his loving family, including his brother Leroy; children, Carl Wayne (Vivian), William (Bay-bay), Claude and Joe (Kaye); 20 grandchildren, a host of greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the enduring love of all those he came into contact with.
