Norman Blake Taylor, of Porter, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 19th, 2025 at Houston Methodist Hospital following a long hard battle against Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of 62. He was born February 19th, 1963 to parents W.N. and Carolyn Taylor.

He leaves his wife of 33 years Nelda; his son Joshua Taylor; his daughter Hannah Taylor and spouse Casey Gaiser; his brother Blayne Taylor; and many close friends.

Born in Houston, he was a lifelong resident of Porter. In his younger years, Blake was in FFA. After graduating from New Caney High School in 1981, Blake attended Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences and a minor in Business. He met his wife Nelda in 1989 through a mutual friend while he was a New Caney high school substitute teacher; they married in 1991 in a small intimate wedding with family and friends.

Over the course of Blake's professional life, he worked for Pettigrew-Smith and Car Quest as a Manager. But Blake found his true passion after pursuing his teaching certificate, where he served as an Ag Sciences Teacher for 11 years. Through teaching and mentoring, his favorite part of working with students was being an FFA advisor.

Blake's love for animals was present in both his professional and personal life. He loved taking care of the animals at their family home and loved having dogs.

As an adult, Blake was a fantastic bowler, bowling on leagues and boasting rings to celebrate multiple perfect 300 games. Blake could frequently be found at all types of auctions, and he could always spot a good deal.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Blake will be held on Sunday July 27th, 2025 from 2-4 PM at Cowboy Country Church at 1518 CR 318 in Cleveland, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to FFA Cleveland High School. The Taylor family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Houston Methodist for their exceptional care of our husband and father during this journey.
