Alfred John Vent (82) of White Plains, NY. passed away on January 12, 2022. Alfred was born on January 20, 1939, in Bronx, NY. to Pasquale Venturelli and Helen Kessel. On June 23, 1968, Alfred married his wife, Maryanne Vent, in Brooklyn, NY. Alfred worked as a Clinical Social Worker for 57 years for his own private practice. He is predeceased by his parents, Pasquale Venturelli and Helen Kessel, as well as his brother, Robert Venturelli. Alfred is survived by his wife, Maryanne Vent; his two children, David Vent of Mohegan Lake, NY. and Amy Vent of New York, NY; as well as his two grandchildren, Emily Jane Vent, and Jack David Vent.
Al was one of the most generous, caring, and gracious men you will ever meet. He was kind toward people and animals alike. He dedicated his life to being a helper in both his personal and professional life.
He spent many years running a community-based clinic for people faced with mental health conditions and addiction. Finding his path in life, Al eventually opened his own private practice, continuing to serve the local community and strong advocate for those in need.
As a husband, father, grandfather, and friend there was nothing Al wouldn't do to try and make life better, more fulfilling, and enjoyable. With loving kindness and his calm presence, Al often conveyed more than words could ever express. He had a way about him that made you feel comfortable and protected.
Al loved his three dogs and enjoyed taking them for walks around the neighborhood while on breaks during his work day. He enjoyed watching mixed martial arts, listening to classical music, and sports radio. The only thing he loved more was spending time with his grandchildren, enjoying time by the pool, playing board games, and going out to dinner after football games with his family.
Al was a handyman in his own right. He knew the ins and outs of plumbing, electrical, and all sorts of home repairs. He was always ready to help out or lend a hand. Al was a man of many trades and talents, and you could always count on him for a good laugh too.
Most of all he was loved and treasured by everyone who was blessed enough to have known him, and will be forever missed.

Al was my therapist when I was in High School 30 years ago, I am now a licensed social worker as he was. I guess that's transference. He was the best. I wish we had a few more words Al, but you did right by me and my mother, all the way through. Thank you.
