Alice Patricia Barbato

Alice P. Barbato, 80, of Rockaway, NJ, died peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, NJ after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Ledgewood, NJ, to the late Charles and Grace Flatt, Alice made Rockaway Borough her home in 1967 when she married the love of her life, Ralph Barbato.
Alice was a devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rockaway, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active on the Banner Committee. Deeply involved in Sacred Heart School, she dedicated countless hours leading the Parade Corp and supporting the school.
For 40 years, Alice was the proud owner and operator of Cameo Coiffures in Rockaway, retiring in 2016. Known for her meticulous nature, she took great pride in her work and in her home. She had a passion for ceramics and crafting, and she delighted in sharing her creations with others. For decades, she was also a successful Avon representative, serving her community with warmth and friendship. Alice was an avid shopper, had a notorious sweet tooth, and was always generous with her time and talents.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, in 2024. She is survived by her children: Melissa Pestritto and husband Nick, and Philip Barbato and wife Robyn; her cherished grandchildren: Harper and Zephyr Barbato; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Avenue, Rockaway, NJ. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 65 E. Main Street, Rockaway, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery, Rockaway, NJ.
