Alice Miniard, a beloved matriarch, friend, and a cherished member of Evarts, passed away on November 12, 2024, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital in Harlan, KY. Born on September 15, 1946, in Harlan, KY, Alice filled the world around her with warmth, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
Alice dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career at Eastover Coal Company, where she worked from June 1979 until February 1983. However, it was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that truly defined her legacy. Left behind to cherish the memories of Mrs. Miniard are her loving daughters, Jackie Irene Madden, and Melinda Gail (Steve) Risner; her brother, Ralph C. Williams of Wooten, KY; grandchildren, Jonathan Grogan, Nicole Warman and Curt Moore, Zachary and Merisa Aslinger, Natrisha and Michael Smith, Cobrianna Risner and Codey Hensley, Kelly Miniard, Lauren Leming, Amber Huff, Jeffrey Huff, Jared Miniard; as well as her treasured great-grandchildren Parker Warman, Rayanna Smith, Emma Aslinger, Gunner Smith, Jocelyn Aslinger, Ava Grace Smith, Aubrey Aslinger, and Noah Risner. Her family also includes her nephew Curtis Williams of Indianapolis, her niece Shelia Flynn of Lexington, her special nephew Harvey Ford of Tennessee, and her special niece Lavonia Perkins of Tennessee. She will be deeply missed by her special friend, Anita Rossi.
Alice was a proud breast cancer survivor, a testament to her strength and resilience. Above all, she loved the Lord with all her heart. Every evening, she made it a point to watch her "church" on WLJC, devoting her time from 7 PM to 8 PM to this sacred ritual. Alice remained a steadfast figure in her family's life; she was the only one who still had a house phone and cherished each moment spent talking about her faith with those she loved. Her soul resonated with the themes of love and devotion captured in the Christian music that filled her home.
She loved her grandchildren but, in her eyes, her great-grandchildren could do no wrong, and she reveled in every moment shared with them. Whether it was a giggle exchanged or a simple moment of togetherness, Alice drew happiness from her family's love, building memories that will forever be cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis Williams and Bonnie Moore Webbs; her husband, Carl Miniard; her son, Jeffrey Caudill; the father of her children, Jack Caudill; her brother, Curtis Williams; her special son-in-law, Verlan Madden; her special nephew, Terry Williams; her niece, Regina Watts; and her dear friend, like a sister, Mary Lou (Billy) Fergueson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Turner Baptist Church in Verda, KY, with the funeral service to follow on Saturday, November 16, 2024, 1PM with the Reverends Jerry Kirby and William Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will include Zack Aslinger, Jonathan Grogan, Parker Warman, Michael Smith, Codey Hensley and Curt Moore. Honorary pallbearers will include Steve Risner, Venice Risner, Seth Aslinger, Noah Risner and Gunner Smith.
