Alice Faye Rumsey Price, age 86, passed away on Aug 19, 2024 at her home in Casper, Wyoming.

Faye was born Jan 28, 1938 in Clearfield, Utah to Horace N and Alice White Rumsey. Their family home was South Ogden, Utah, where she grew up with her brothers and numerous friends. She graduated from Weber High School in 1956 and then attended Weber College in the School of Nursing program where she earned her RN credentials. While at college she met and married Ned Price and they soon began their family and their life’s adventure.

In her career as a nurse she worked at Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah as a surgical nurse, Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah as a floor nurse, and then for a total of 33 years at Natrona County Memorial Hospital where she served as an OR nurse on various surgical teams. She then worked several years in private practices as a front desk receptionist and medical records assistant. Faye very much enjoyed working as a nurse and always felt that it was her way of serving her communities. Whenever somebody she knew was coming through the hospital for surgery, she always made a point of visiting her friend or neighbor or fellow church member before and after the surgery to offer any comfort or help that she could.

Faye started playing the piano as a young child, receiving lessons from her aunt. As she grew, her musical talents expanded and she became proficient at several instruments, including the piano, organ, flute and piccolo. She started playing as a church pianist and organist at the age of 16 and served quite regularly in that capacity for various organizations throughout the remainder of her life. She greatly enjoyed the privilege of accompanying many performers and choirs. One claim to fame she was grateful for was that for a period of time she received organ lessons from Alexander Schreiner, who at the time served as the organist for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. One of her favorite acts of service was to be the pianist for the children in her church’s primary organization.

For several years, Faye took time out from her nursing career to raise a family and be a homemaker. She always considered her biggest accomplishment to be her family. Her eight children all grew to be successful, dependable and hard working adults within their own families and professions. Her source of pride quickly moved to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her home and letters and social presence all revolved around keeping track of and interacting with her children and grandchildren.

After retirement she occupied her time by visiting and interacting with family and doing other acts of service. One of her favorites, to which she contributed many hours of labor and thought, was crocheting afghans and hats for patients at the Central Wyoming Hospice. Her years of service with the “Knotty Ladies” were an important part of her life.

Faye is preceded in death by her parents and by her brother David and her sister Lily. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ned Price, and by her children Reynold Price (Juanita), Adele Olsen (Randy), Kermit Price (Lisa), Aaron Brett Price (Lanae), Scott Price (Lori), Chanin Gammill (Allen), Reyn Price (Carolyn), and Michele Earnest (Steve). She is also survived by 33 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren and by her brothers Allen Rumsey (Janice) and Dale Rumsey (Mikki).
