Alice Joan Sjostrand, age 89 of Lindale, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Lindale. She was born April 26, 1935, in Santa Maria, California to the late Clifford Thomas Wolverton and Edna May (Yates) Puttrich. Alice has lived in Lindale for the past 37 years and was previously of Hallock, Minnesota and Oakland, California. She was a member of the Church of Living Hope in Tyler and served as the head cook in full time ministry at Calvary Commission since 1987. In her spare time Alice enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, reading, and gardening. Previously; Alice, more commonly known as "Joan" by her friends and relatives, worked as a switchboard telephone operator, a teacher's aide at Heritage Christian School for 7 years, and was a caregiver for Jordan Health Service. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Wolverton, her sister, Carol Allen, and Willard Lowell Sjostrand, her loving husband of 71 years.
Alice is survived by her children, Claudia Reynolds of Arlington, Barry Sjostrand and wife, Rudolfina of Visalia, California, Reed Sjostrand of Lindale, Jennifer Bickerdike and husband, Steve of Chandler, and Paula Taylor and husband, Rob of Bullard; grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Meredith, Andrew, Solomon, Ezekial, Daniel, Joshua, Nicholas, Abigail, Katelyn, Daniel, Caleb, Rebecca, Emily, Lauren, Baylee, Ronn, and Ariel; 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Commission in Lindale, at P.O. Box 100 Lindale, Texas 75771 or www.calvarycommission.org
