I just learned about Alice's death. I'd been out of touch for some years now. Alice was a major positive influence in my adult life. She gave me the introductory talk when I finally came to Nicotine Anonymous back in 2001 at a very low point in my life. That is how I happened to meet her. That low moment in the basement of the church over in Linden Hills ended up being a turning around moment, probably because it was Alice who spoke to me and was able to clearly and lovingly express where strength lay to this stranger--in humility, in trying again, in others. Her bright, cheerful spirit was always present when I saw her at meetings and later at concerts I'd give in my home. I'd forgotten that she sat meditation. Of course. I'm fortunate as would anyone be who had the good fortune to have encountered the light and love of Alice. May she rest in peace, and maybe occasionally smile down on us when she has the time.

I can barely put into words all that Alice has given me. I love her and will miss her profoundly. My heart goes out to her family during this time of grief, and celebration of Alice's life on earth.
