Allen S. Chestnut, age 89, died on October 9, 2023, at his home in West Deptford where he lived over 30 years. Allen was raised in the Fairview section of Camden and graduated from Camden High School. A true patriot, Allen served in the US Air Force as a Fireman during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Allen lived in National Park where he was a volunteer fireman before moving to Thorofare. Allen began his career at Yamaha of America, he worked for Suzuki Motor Corporation and retired from Vineland Transit Mix. He was a member of the Army Navy Union Garrison #52 in National Park, the VFW Post 7125, NRA, Elks Lodge #2708 in Deptford and was known by his family as the "Mayor" of the Riverwinds Community Center.
He was predeceased by his daughter Donna Huling.
Survived by his wife of 68 years Elsie May (Schweigart), children Victor (Susanne), Steven (Helen), Michael (Cheryl), Linda, grandchildren Eric, Michael and Jeffrey Chestnut, William Baals, Kyle, Joshua (Meghan) Chestnut, Donna Lee Lane, Allie (Phil) Hall and great grandchildren Arianna Baals, Meghann, Cassidy and Carter Chestnut.
Funeral services and interment in Eglington Cemetery will be private.
