Victoria Tatem, affectionately known to many as "QueenVic," was a loving, loyal, intelligent, and spirited soul. Born on September 28, 1950, in Camden, NJ, she was the beloved daughter of the late Merrill Tatem and Margaret Smith.
Victoria was a proud graduate of Camden High School and went on to earn her certification in Automotive Mechanics from the Commercial Trades Institute.
She dedicated over 22 years of her professional life as a valued clerk at the Camden County Board of Education. Additionally, she worked for many years with the Camden River Sharks, where her intelligence, loyalty, and unwavering work ethic earned her deep respect from her colleagues. Victoria's vibrant spirit and kind heart brought joy to all who knew her. Her wisdom and presence will be profoundly missed.
Above all, Victoria found her greatest joy in her family. She was a devoted mother to Bianca Simons, Rahsan Tatem, and Janelle "Nel-Nel" Mosley, a close family member whom she embraced like a daughter. Offering steadfast love and guidance that formed the cornerstone of their lives. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Victoria was a longtime member of St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Williamstown, NJ. She found strength and solace in the Word of God, and her Bible was never far from her side. Her faith was both her anchor and her guide, reflected in the kindness and peace she extended to others
Victoria was a proud and joyful grandmother to Rahmyne Tatem, Alexandra Tatem, Brandon Simons, Allysa Tatem, and Olivia Tatem, and a loving great-grandmother to Jaden Tatem, Idris Mosley, Amoni Tatem, Nacir Tatem, and Lamiyah Troup, who lovingly called her "Maude." Her greatest wish was always for her family to be happy, safe, and cared for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill Tatem and Margaret Smith, and her brother, Glenn Smith. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Christine Tatem-Hickman, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and treasured friends who will carry her memory forward with love.
A celebration of Victoria's life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. EST at Macedonia Baptist Church, 351 High Street, Westville, New Jersey 08093. We gather not to mourn her passing, but to honor her beautiful journey, her infectious spirit, and the deep love she shared with those around her.
