Susan Tatem passed away peacefully in Plantation, FL on February 28, 2025. She is now enjoying eternity with her Heavenly Father, her mother Peggy Tatem and her beloved pets Spanky and Chantel.
Susan was born in New Jersey and lived in both Massachusetts and Florida. She was a talented athlete, excelling in basketball, swimming, and tennis. She found great joy in trying to beat her brother in the latter two sports, which helped her hone her skills and achieve excellence in those disciplines. Susan’s competitive spirit carried over into her professional life, as she was driven to be successful in everything she did. Susan spent her life behind the scenes in the medical field, ensuring that people were cared for with dignity and grace. Originally in home health care working with seniors, Susan was a jack of all trades, excelling in many areas such as auditing, coding, training others in various computer programs, and assisting in the staffing of physicians in hospitals all over the country.
A true Christian, she was always generous with her time, talents, and treasures. Susan was an active member of her community as an HOA board member for Somerset at Jacaranda Townhomes. She continued to assist with bookkeeping after she moved out of the community, and kept in contact with the friends she made along the way. In fact, her kindness, love, and loyalty to friends and family were boundless, as she maintained those relationships for a lifetime. Despite facing many medical challenges, Susan remained a fighter. She never faced a day without her faith. Her warmth, genuine desire to help, and sense of humor will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
She is survived by her father, Robert Tatem and his partner, Barbara Heiden; her brother, Len Tatem; extended family, and friends who have become family.
Because her celebration will be held at a later date, the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Calvary Outreach Fellowship Center, affiliated with Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale (Susan’s home church), to help those facing food insecurity.
