Allen J. Knopf

Allen J. Knopf, 88 of Lake Park, MN passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.

Allen John Knopf was born on May 9, 1936, to Henry and Alice (Dolan) Knopf in Lake Park, MN. He grew up in Lake Park and attended country school through the 8th grade when he began working on his family’s farm full time. He continued to farm throughout his younger years and later met the love of his life, Viola Seward, who was by his side for over 40 years. 

Allen was a caregiver by nature and was wonderful with Viola until her passing in 2013. His home was always open to friends and family who needed a place to stay. 

Allen was a police officer in Lake Park in the 1970’s and he also dug graves for area cemeteries for many years. He and Viola also owned a bait shop in Lake Park for a time. Later in life, Allen enjoyed canning and selling corn roadside. He also loved caring for flowers and plants and operated his own greenhouse. He will be missed by many.

Allen is survived by his daughters, Mary, Vicki, and Dawn; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving Allen are Pete Johnson and the Richwood Store family that were always there for him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; companion, Viola; brother, Gordon Knopf; and Dorothy Shaw.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN. A livestream of the service will be available through Lake Park Lutheran's Facebook page.

Burial will be in Richwood Lakeside Cemetery, Richwood, MN.
