Alma Earllean Welch Hicks, 94, of Roxboro died Thursday, September 12, 2024. Born in Person County, Mrs. Hicks was the daughter of the late Larry Thomas and Alma Duncan Welch, wife of the late James Milton Hicks, mother of the late Larry Hicks and sister of the late Victor Welch, Waylon Welch, Mammie Cash, Margaret Welch, Mary Ann Price, Selba Mangum and Melba O'Briant. Mrs. Hicks retired after 57 years manufacturing parachutes and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hicks loved dancing, also gardening, and loved her family dearly.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her son, Anthony Todd Hicks and wife Cathy, of Roxboro; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Hicks, of Roxboro; five granddaughters, Brittany Hicks and Thomas Trail, Sheena Lunsford and husband Lemmie, Jessica Davis and husband Anthony, Ashley Long and husband Carey and Erin Hicks and Lila; and nineteen great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 3PM Sunday at Person Memorial Cemetery by the Dr. M. David Chambers. The family will receive friends at the home of Todd & Cathy Hicks, 1739 Charlie Long Rd., Hurdle Mills. Visitation will be at 2PM prior to the service at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Davis, Thomas Trail, Carey Long, Lemmie Lunsford, Vance Mangum and Adam Thaxton.
Memorials may be made to Person Memorial Hospital ECU, 615 Ridge Rd., Roxboro, NC, 27573 or the Canterbury House, 1284 Leasburg Rd., Roxboro, NC, 27573.
