Born in Elgin, Illinois, February 17, 1939 to Jane and F.W.Dibler. Alta graduated from Riverside Poly High School and worked in offices of the University of California and for several attorneys. She later earned her B.A.Theatre at UCR, M.A. Education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and did graduate work at UCSF in Human Development & Aging. At Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, she introduced Sign Language to the curriculum and taught at California Men's Colony. Her career as a counselor in the Community College System spanned 1976-2001. She retired after twelve years with Riverside Community College, where she worked with international students, and students with disabilities.
During her retirement years in Desert Hot Springs, CA, Alta participated in various community activities, including being a city commissioner, a member of the city trails committee, and secretary of the Historical Society. She was a reader for BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools). She enjoyed studying Spanish, hiking, and travel. Keeping in close touch with her friends was very important to Alta, and they will miss her. One friend compared Alta to a butterfly adventurous, intrepid, and a delight to all...
At her request, no services will be held. Each dear friend in their own way can hold memories of good times shared. Alta is survived by her brother, Allan Dibler (Cindy), and nephews Jason Schultz, Peter Schultz, and Garth Schultz (Marie), great nephew Sam, and great niece Haley Schultz.
