Alvin Paul "Al" Adams Jr.

Alvin "Al" Paul Adams Jr., a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on December 8, 2025, at the age of 76. Born August 10, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Alvin was known for his great generosity, warmth, and kindness. He exhibited deep love and admiration for his family and friends. Al enjoyed comfortable engagement in his community; he generally "never met a stranger" and called everyone "Buddy". He immersed himself in his work and had a lifelong dedication to provide a loving home for his canine rescues.
Alvin grew up in New Orleans, imbued with the love of his late parents, Alvin "Whitey" Paul Adams Sr. and Juan "Jo" Reynolds Adams. He is survived by his siblings, Cynthia "Cindy" Adams Seymour, Pamela "Pam" Adams Bubeck (Butch), Gregory "Greg" Charles Adams, and Terry Lester Adams (Margaret), as well as his nieces and nephews, Malcolm and David Seymour (Cindy), John Pitts (Pam), Mathew Adams (Greg), Celeste Adams Crowder, and Andrew, Catherine and Jason Adams (Terry).
A graduate of Marion Abramson High School's Class of 1969, Alvin furthered his education at Delgado Community College until 1972.
Alvin served honorably in the United States Navy and chose a management career in shipping/transportation at major port locations across the U.S. with employers that included American President Lines, Crowley Marine Transportation, Pacific Crane Maintenance, Port of Miami Terminal, Puerto Rico Marine Management, and XTRA Int'l Maintenance-Intermodal Shipping.
A parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, Alvin was a "late laborer to the vineyard". His gift of faith brought him grace and peace which amplified his kindness and patience during the health challenges that progressed in his last years.
Alvin's legacy of hope for family, friends, and caregivers is that we will see him again. The memory of his generosity is one of endearment to those who knew him in this temporary life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A Funeral Mass with Military Honors will begin in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. Alvin will be laid to rest in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a private burial.
