Alvin Duncan Ferguson

Alvin Duncan Ferguson, 68, passed away peacefully at his Allenton home, surrounded by family, on Friday, April 11, 2025.
Alvin was born on October 9, 1956, in Warren, Michigan, to Frank and Gertrude (Ahlers) Ferguson, Alvin was one of seven children. A 1974 graduate of Chippewa Valley High School, he began his career as a painter at the family business, Duncan Painting Company, working alongside his father and brothers for 18 years.
On September 6, 1975, Alvin married Deborah Cottrell at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Macomb Township. In 1991, he and Deborah pursued his lifelong passion for farming, starting with 16 acres. Today, he and his son, Jay, operate approximately 6,000 acres. Alvin was a man of extraordinary work ethic. Alvin was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, whose family was his priority. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and playing Euchre. Known for his engaging personality and storytelling, he brought positivity to every interaction. Alvin's creative talents were evident in his construction and remodeling projects, including the many projects and renovations to his and his children's homes.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Deborah; children, Jay (Amanda) Ferguson, Katie (Blair) Still, and Amber Ferguson; grandchildren, Rylie, Blake, Owen, Easton, and Zoe; father, Frank Ferguson; siblings, Alfred (Karen) Ferguson, Kathleen (Donald) Marcath, Karen Nanni, Malburg, Kay Demey, Alan (Darla) Ferguson, and Alaine (Dave) Gage; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Ferguson.
A memorial visitation for Alvin will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 22511 West Main St., Armada. The memorial service will follow immediately at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Afterwards, a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Berville Lions Hall, 13651 Hough Rd, Berlin Township, MI 48002.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to them for distribution to various charities. If you choose to send flowers, please ensure they arrive at the church or funeral home by Friday afternoon to allow for proper arrangement before Saturday's visitation.
