Alvin J. Fernholz, 89, of Arcadia, died on February 20, 2025, at Hope Stay Assisted Living in Holmen, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. 

Alvin was born in rural Arcadia on February 19, 1936, to Albert and Cecelia (Malesytcki) Fernholz. He was united in marriage to Clarice Lisowski on October 3, 1959, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia. Together the couple enjoyed years of traveling to various destinations, taking bus tours and visiting local casinos. Alvin really enjoyed his vacations to Mexico and Hawaii, commenting that on his trip to Hawaii he got to see the sunrise twice. Alvin dedicated 49 years of employment at A-G Co-op/Gold’n Plump/Pilgrim’s Pride in Arcadia working in various departments throughout the plant. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with his extended family. 

Alvin is survived by his sister: Sister Catherine Fernholz of St. Paul, MN; brother-in-law John (Martha) Lisowski of Arcadia; sister-in-law: Mary (Jim) Roskos of Rochester, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice; parents; brothers: Vernon, Mark, Norbert, Ailred, and James; sisters: Josephine (Alfred) Feuling, Magdeline (George) Myren, Iona (John) O’Konis, Eleanor Fernholz, Alvina (Joseph) Konsella, Theresa (Edward) Melesko, Phyllis (Gordon) Brady and Verna Przybilla; and other relatives. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Holy Family Parish with Father Kyle Laylan officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Township of Glencoe, rural Arcadia. Fellowship will follow burial at the Arcadia Country Club.
